Education Maintenance Allowance
Sixteen year old students starting a course in September 2008, from households with an income of less than approximately £30,000 to £31,000 per year, will qualify for an Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) of £10, £20 or £30 per week. Payments are made weekly on full attendance, and are to pay for the costs of education. More information and application forms are available at www.ema.dfes.gov.uk It is recommended that students apply as soon as possible if they think they may qualify.
