Train to Gain
The Government sponsored Train to Gain programme is aimed at raising skills of the workforce and provides the opportunity for employees, whether paid or voluntary, to receive skills training and be assessed for their skills competency in the workplace. This training carries no cost for employers providing they fit the following criteria:
Train to Gain is a Government initiative that has been set up to improve the UK's competitiveness within the global market. Barrow 6th Form College has it's own contract with the LSC to provide Train to Gain training which is free for learners aged 19 or over studying for their first Full Level 2 qualification and free for learners studying their first full Level 3 qualification aged 19-24 or if the learner is a Level 3 jumper (eg does not already have a Level 2 or 3 qualification).
Where a business has less than 50 employees, a claim can be made for a contribution towards the cost of wages of the employee once they have achieved their qualification.

Barrow 6th Form College offers advice and Guidance to help students make appropriate course choices and investigate all the progression opportunities open to them.
