College Policies
Examination Policy for Private Candidates
The College will accept entries for written exams for examination boards used by the College (AQA, EDEXCEL, OCR, WJEC) and exceptionally from other boards/examination organisations.
Entries cannot be accepted for assessments that involve coursework, practical or speaking tests.
Entries must be made by the following dates:
GCSE November examination series: 16 September
GCSE March examination series: 8 January
GCSE Summer examination series: 31 January
A/AS January examination series: 1 October
A/AS Summer examination series: 28 February
Entries may be accepted for a short period after these dates on payment of a Late Entry Fee.
COSTS
1. The normal entry fee for each exam/unit/module.
2. An Administration Fee of £20.00 per student per examination series will be charged.
3. Invigilation: if special invigilation arrangements have to made, or a separate room is needed, then a charge of £30.00 per hour for invigilators and £15.00 per hour for room hire may be charged. Usually, if College exams are being held, Private candidates will be fitted in with other students taking the exam.
RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the responsibility of the Private Candidate to provide:
1. Accurate information including FULL NAME/PERSONAL DETAILS; EXAM BOARD/UNIT NAME(S)/UNIT CODE(S); telephone number/email address.
2. Photographic ID: a current passport or driving licence with photo ID must be produced:
a) at the point of entering for the exam
b) for EACH exam – to be shown to the invigilator
c) on collection of results.
RESULTS AND CERTIFICATES
Results may be collected on the appropriate results day on production of the photographic ID outlined above.
Alternatively, candidates may leave a stamped, addressed envelope and results will be posted.
No results will be given out by phone or email unless personal arrangements have been made with the Director of Students.
Certificates may be collected in person (with photo ID), or posted, by Recorded Delivery, on receipt of £2.00.
